Welcome to the Web site of the
DIESEL TRACTION GROUP (DTG). The purpose of this web site is to promote an
interest in Diesel Hydraulic locomotives and to keep you informed of the
events and railtours that D1015 WESTERN CHAMPION will be involved in.
Western Champion is currently the the only mainline registered heritage diesel
hydraulic locomotive working in the uk. |

The locomotive, British Railways Class 52 D1015 Western Champion, is owned by the D T G and operated on Network Rail tracks across the UK, in partnership with such companies as Pathfinder 2006, Riviera Trains and DB Schenker.
Information
regarding the running of special trains hauled by Western Champion can be
found in the 'Forthcoming railtours' section.
On Saturday 31st July D1015 will work her 50th Mainline Railtour since returning to the mainline in 2002.This is an achievement
the DTG are very proud of and which is
testament to the very high standard of overhaul carried out by our Engineers before
going mainline and the consistent high level of maintenance since.
